dreams are the language of the multidimensions messages from ancestors, prophecies, visitations, and complicated riddles that sometimes require a circle of dreamers to decode.
Suné (pronounced Sahn-āy) Woods I Zomhlaba (pronounced Zōm Lahba) is a creator whose visual work takes the form of video installations, movement, performance, photographs, and collage. Woods is invested in the wisdom that comes through interspecies relationships, somatic, holistic, ancestral, and traditional healing practices. Woods contends through her work what it means to be present with life in a human vessel and to create utterances of the heart.
My work has been a way to process and understand intimacy, sensuality, power, and spirituality within violent oppressive systems that thrive in the United States. I utilize ancient ways of communication such as dreams, prayer, ritual, meditation. I am in practice with earth based modalities and work with traditional healers, yogis, and shamans to continuously grow and evolve my sōl.
My work is made through ritual, divination, and reveals personal prophecies. I work with my ancestors, guides, and learn from relationships that are formed with animals and plants. There are many lived experiences that I transmute through my art practice. Working with my community is deeply important as a strategy of resistance.
