Devotion is a twenty minute offering traveling the audience from the mind of the scholar into the open heart space of the water spirits.  Suné Woods, Emeka Simmons, & c. Scoti Scott translate through free form movement the utterances of  Xiana’s guttural, channeled sounds as Xiana in turn responds to spirit moving bodies with drum, sound bowls, and their voice. We are an ensemble of artists coming together to create channeled instrumentation and movement at the culmination of Sacred Sounds: Reflections on Alice Coltrane symposium, April 29, 2025 at the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles.
